Heavenly
Cuisine
A
world-class café located
in the heart of San Francisco’s
North Beach, Café Divine
offers warm, friendly service in
a stunning space, offering customers “heavenly” cuisine.
Overlooking Washington
Square Park, Café Divine
is the perfect spot to
relax with
a
cappuccino
or a glass of wine, devour
the delicious food served
all day
long, and watch the colorful
world of
North Beach stroll by.
The Menu
The menu is the work of Chef
David Wees, and incorporates
the philosophy of all good
cafes—simple, quality
dishes, well conceived and
executed with a flourish, all
at prices that won’t
break the budget. We make use
of organic products, and believe
in supporting local, sustainable
agriculture. Breakfast, lunch
and dinner are available, as
well as our house made sweets,
making Café Divine a
perfect destination any time
of the day, for a full meal
or just a quick pick-me-up.

We
serve beer and wine,
espresso from our beautiful
brass machine
imported from Italy, and
all manner of nonalcoholic
beverages.
There's always something
special on the chalk board.
Delctable specials change
daily.
Café Divine is available
for private parties and receptions.
We can serve a sit-down dinner
for up to 40 people, or buffets
for twice that many. We’ve
even hosted a sangria reception
for 175 people! We’ll be
happy to make special arrangements
for you. Prices vary, depending
on time, menus, and number of people.
History
Café Divine occupies the corner
space of the Italianate Dante building.
Originally a drugstore (check out the
safe in the bathroom!), Rossi’s
Drugs gave way to Caffé Malvina
in 1987. The famous mahogany, maple and
marble bar was custom built in Italy
and installed then, along with the brass
chandeliers and the pizza ovens in the
kitchen. Caffe Malvina and coffee roastery
operated here until July 2004 .

David
Wright, a
long time North Beach resident,
had his eye on
the space for years, always considering
it one of the most beautiful
café spaces
in the City, if not the world.
After returning from abroad, he
found a “for lease” sign
in the window. With the encouragement
of family, friends and business
partners, he decided to take the
leap. After recruiting his brother,
Wade, to help manage the front
of the house, and an old friend, David
Wees, as chef, they opened
to the public as Café Divine
in the beginning of 2005.

Café Divine supports
the arts. In fact, most of the
staff is involved in some artistic
pursuit, from music and literature
to visual
arts and dance.
We’re proud to act as
a gallery space to select
artists on a rotating
basis. Currently featured
are the paintings of Marg
Starbuck and collages
by David Barker.
We present a variety of live
music (our dining room has
amazing acoustics)
Please join us for good food
and fun times at Café Divine! |
